Another new class scheduled! Hands-on Simulation of Grid Concepts.
Do you have new operators that are ready to take the NERC test? How about newly certified operators but they do not have any practical or hands-on experience? We just delivered a four day Hands-on Simulation of Grid Concepts class in Rapid City, South Dakota and have now scheduled this class in Portland, OR on July 30-Aug 2, 2012
Generation and the Grid: this class was developed for personnel who work around the electric power grid but don’t have a good understanding of how the grid works. In this class we spend two days allowing the student to experience the challenges with running the grid. We start with basic balancing then move on to the concepts of reserves and their importance. The second day we focus on the transmission lines and how generation patterns can affect line loading and how line loading can be fixed. Last, we look at voltage control; how operators fix it and how a “fix” can affect generators. The last hour we allow the student to run the grid and fix problems. Each attendee will receive 16 CE hours, including 12 simulation hours, 6 standards and 4 EOPS
Interchange for Schedulers and Traders: Are you responsible for purchasing, selling, or scheduling energy? Do you understand how to do your job but not why? Then this hands-on class is for you! Unlike traditional lectures that just show you HOW to do what you do, this class takes an interactive approach to teach you WHY you do what you do. Each student team will have access to a laptop with a simulator and PCI tagging software to work simulations throughout the class.
